Honeymist
Bedlington Terriers
My first
introduction to Bedlingtons , in 1984, was buying four dogs to rescue them from not very
nice living conditions when I had gone to buy a Jack Russell !! Two of these were called
Honey and Misty ~ hence my affix . Having never seen this breed before I fell in love with
them and more and more joined the family until we now have on average twenty counting
puppies at any given time !! 
Up until 1992 I couldn't get to many Championship
shows but we had won a lot of firsts , best terrier puppies , groups , R.B.I.Ss , and
B.I.Ss at Open shows where Judges kept voicing their surprise that we didn't have any C.Cs
. After my mum died and my dad came to live with us we started attending more shows and
have had our share of success . Ch.Honeymist Blue~Trane was our first home~bred champion ,
who , apart from being an absolute joy to live with , has won 10 C.Cs 8 B.O.Bs including
the coveted B.O.B~at~Crufts , 7 Res C.Cs , Terrier Group and R.B.I.S at Birmingham
National in 1994 , Joint Top Dog for 1994 , twice has qualified for the veteran Stakes
Final (the first time he was 5th, the second time only short listed) and has also gained
B.I.Ss , R.B.I.Ss and B.O.Bs at Open shows , including B.I.S from Veteran at the Terrier
of Scotland.
Ch.R.Rani joined our kennel
and produced Ch.Honeymist Dashed Hopes(owned by the Haugheys) , and with Trane as
"Dad" produced Ch.Honeymist Coletrane~Time , Honeymist Coleman ( 2C.Cs several
Res C.Cs) Honeymist Ornette JW (Res C.C ). We have also produced a Swedish
Champion Honeymist Sister Sadie, an El Salvador Champion Honeymist Chelsea Bridge
(currently moving towards being a international Champion), a bitch in the U.S.A.
Honeymist Jaz Family Affair , who has begun collecting champion points and the 1999
Swedish "top dog" at the moment is Honeymist Buddy Rich (a few points behind the
top overall, a bitch who is sister to the dog I imported from Sweden this year). A
mating of Trane with Tolivar Rigton Regina brought us a lovely bitch puppy that sadly
broke both front legs while she was away from us on holiday . Joe and Lillian Crompton ,

how heart broken I was , kindly gave me "Charlie" ,Ch. Tolivar Tambori of
Honeymist J.W , to replace her in the show ring . Charlie has a Junior Warrant ,7
C.Cs, Res C.Cs and many B.O.Bs at Champ shows, and lots of B.O.Bs ,Groups, B.I.S/R.B.I.Ss
at open shows. He has twice been runner up overall in Champion stakes thus far. Like Trane
he was a late maturer. Ch.Honeymist Golden Circle (best puppy N.B.T.C Champ show 1996)
gained her title in 1998 and was also 2nd in the Group at Leeds in the same year. She then
went on to produce Honeymist Art Tatum who has some Res.C.Cs , some Best Puppy in Breeds
and at the moment 1C.C . Honeymist Night Leaves has 2C.Cs and a 2nd in the Terrier Group
at Driffield in 1999. Among other successes, Honeymist Chick Korea gained a Res.C.C, some
Best Puppy in Breeds, Res. Best Dog at Border Union etc, several of our dogs/bitches have
won Best Puppy in Breed and so on over the years. We are fast running out of wall space
for rosettes even though this place is huge!!
Not only have they bought
success to the Kennel but each and everyone is, or was , a joy to own and love. There have
been great heartaches too , with the loss of Honey (aged 10) , Misty (almost 16 when she
died) and Jody (Tranes Mum who was almost 17 when she died ) being particularly painful
separations . I suppose the more you love them the more it hurts when you lose them , but
I could not now live without Bedlingtons on the best seats , on the bed ,in the car,
chasing rabbits though the flower beds.....without tending to the Golden oldies , the
smell of tiny puppies and the sight of graceful, beautiful dogs chasing about our huge
garden and grounds!!
